Welcome to Koshi Tappu
The Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is a protected area in southern plains of South Eastern Nepal covering an area of about 175 sq km (68 sq mi) of wetlands in the Sunsari, Saptari and Udayapur Districts. The Reserve is around 75 to 81 metres (246 to 266 ft) above the sea level and consists of extensive mudflats, reed beds, and freshwater marshes in the floodplain of the Sapta Koshi River, the largest river of Nepal. It was established in the year 1976 and designated as a Ramsar site in December 1987.
